Bankruptcy Rates May Be Rising.

Read this:

http://www.bankruptcylawnetwork.com/2008/10/14/

The author doesn’t offer any hard numbers on increases in bankruptcy filings. But, he does mention that in Southwest Florida, things are very different this time:

…In Southwest Florida, we are starting to see things that we never saw before…

SW Florida, from what we understand, has seen it’s property values drop rapidly in the last few years. The bankruptcies must be rising there…

After clicking through on some of the links, the most information I could get for a number was
“Bankruptcy Filing Across the Nation achieved a milestone since the inception of BAPCPA (Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act) in October 2005. March filings were in excess of 90,000, and based upon a 21 working days in March, bankruptcy filings reached 4,300 per day.”

As for California, the market is dropping like a stone, horrifically brutal out here.
