Year over year bankruptcies increase from January 2008 to January 2009.
Personal bankruptcy filings in the U.S. rose 34 percent in January as the deepening economic crisis drove many to seek court protection from creditors.

Here’s the latest from another bubble state: Arizona.
This increase in Chapter 7 bankruptcy filings continued last month:
Consumers and businesses initiated 1,552 filings in the Valley and 2,119 statewide last month. Both were easily the highest totals so far in 2008.
