The foreclosure issue & mortgage modification have now intersected with bankruptcy….it looks like this will be more common in the immediate future:
Homeowners struggling with unaffordable mortgages soon may have a place to turn to get the loans modified: bankruptcy court.

Florida Bankruptcy

South Florida bankruptcy filings increase:
There were 1,972 filings last month, compared with 1,758 in September, and up 61 percent from 1,228 in October 2007, according to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida.

In the Northwest, bankruptcy filings are continuing to mount…the article mentions the likely culprit: foreclosure…and states that:
In Coeur d’Alene, bankruptcy filings for October soared by 138 percent
