Personal Bankruptcy Filings In Washington

From The state of Washington:
In the first three months of 2009, more than 7,000 people statewide declared bankruptcy, up 50 percent from a year ago.

Here is an article from a paper in Hawaii discussing the increases in bankruptcy filings in February…
U.S. consumer bankruptcy filings increased 29.2 percent nationwide in February from the same period a year ago, according to the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), relying on data from the National Bankruptcy Research Center (NBKRC).

Bankruptcies Filed in 2008

The bankruptcy numbers are in for 2008:
The American Bankruptcy Institute said overall consumer filings rose to 1.06 million in 2008, compared with 801,840 during 2007.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Filings

According to this article, chapter 13 bankruptcy filings increased (along with other types of bankruptcy) in Vermont last year:
chapter 13 bankruptcy cases increased from 234 to 315 last year, a jump of 35 percent.
