Area bankruptcies at 2-year high

BLADE BUSINESS WRITERHousing woes and heavy debt helped send personal bankruptcies in northwest Ohio last month to the highest levels in more than two years.
Filings at the Toledo office of U.S. Bankruptcy Court rose in March to 655, or 22 percent more than at the same time last year.
Last month was the first in which local bankruptcies topped 600 since October, 2005, when a wave of filers rushed to court to beat new laws that made it more difficult to shed debt….(cont.)
