American consumers owe nearly $2.6 trillion in non-mortgage debt,

We’ve reported on this in the past. That means that the number is approaching 10K/person in the US.

With a trend like this, how will consumer debtors be able to pay all this off?

And how many more people will file for Chapter 7 in the next few years- could we see record numbers of people filing in 2009?
